K-pop girl group BLACKPINK will be making their awaited comeback on June 26, according to their agency.
On June 10, YG Entertainment posted a teaser poster of the group’s album pre-release single with the date and time “2020.06.26 6PM.” The agency has yet to announce the song’s title.
The announcement resulted in the hashtag #BLACKPINKISCOMING to trend worldwide on Twitter. The single will be released ahead of BLACKPINK’s first full-length album that will come out in September.
In May, the agency gave details about BLACKPINK’s comeback, saying, “BLACKPINK has completed recording over 10 new tracks and finished working on their first official album,” according to the YG blog.
It added, “BLACKPINK’s new song that will be released in June will be the pre-release title song. The members are currently getting ready to shoot their music video and are working on choreography practice.”
In addition, the agency said, “Two new tracks are scheduled to be released in special formats during July-August.” In the original announcement by YG on Twitter, it said a second single will be released in July or August.
“As it is an album that was prepared for a long time, it will be released in three steps so that the group will have opportunities to visit the fans with more contents and performances than ever,” YG Entertainment added.
Last May 28, Lady Gaga released the song “Sour Candy” that featured a collaboration with BLACKPINK. The track debuted at No. 33 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for the June 13 period. BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love” entered the chart No. 41.
After the release of BLACKPINK’s album in September, the members will have solo music projects.
