Super Junior-K.R.Y has released another album since making their music debut nearly 14 years ago.
The trio, composed of Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung, started as a unit of Super Junior in 2006 and sang OSTs for the drama “Hyena,” which aired the same year.
On June 8, Super Junior-K.R.Y. released their first mini-album “When We Were Us” containing six songs including the title track.
On the Hanteo Chart, “When We Were Us” sold 73,462 copies on the first day of release while Gaon’s retail album chart tallied 50,921 copies sold.
The trio expressed happiness for being able to release their first ever album with Yesung saying, “This is an album that both my fans and I have been waiting for, so I feel extremely happy and grateful,” according to Osen.
“Because the fans have been waiting for this album for a long time, I’m glad when it will be a great gift for them,” said Kyuhyun.
Ryeowook added: “Like many fans, I have been waiting for K.R.Y.’s album for a long time, so the product this time has a much bigger meaning. Therefore, I hope we will get more attention and love of fans.”
Ryewook described “When We Were Us” as a song with “great melody. It also has details that make me think it would be suitable to be a drama OST.”
“Any memories, happy or sad, seem to all become beautiful memories as time goes by. If everyone thinks of your past memories when listening to ‘When We Were Us,’ you can feel the song’s atmosphere better,” said Kyuhyun.
According to Ryeowook, Super Junior members said “the song sounded very good. They’re all honest, so they won’t hide their reactions if they don’t like it, but they gave their sincere support by praising the song.”
Yesung said he hopes that through the album, “a lot of fans who have been waiting for us will feel happy. If there’s anything I yearn for, then there will be more and more people who love the songs of the three of us after listening to this album. I would be very happy.”
“I want to present a ‘summer song’ that is worth staying in the minds of so many people,” said Kyuhyun.
