Nicole Beverly Chien is lending her mom, Broadway star Lea Salonga, a helping hand, creating the artwork for her latest single “Dream Again.”

Salonga said it was her New York-based manager Josh Pultz who requested her to ask her daughter if she would be interested in doing the track’s cover art.

She said it took them a while to figure out what kind of image her daughter wanted to put on the cover.

“And at the end of it, it’s this little person in red and a huge sky with rainbows and a big star,” Salonga shared after she sang “Dream Again” as part of the celebration of Manila Restaurant Week.

Salonga, 49, interpreted it as “these things that we once took for granted, now all of the sudden seem much more important and we can’t wait to experience those things again.”

“Dream Again” was written with the pandemic in mind, she said.

Salonga recalled that back then, Josh told her that it would be a good idea to commission a song that would reflect the people’s state of mind as everyone is getting through the COVID-19 health crisis.

“For a global pandemic, it took a global effort to create something that we hope has been giving people, at the very least, something entertaining to listen to and hopefully something inspiring to remind us what each of us is looking forward to after all the quarantine and lockdown is over,” she said.

It was last month when Salonga premiered the song to raise money for The Actors Fund.

The “Dream Again” music video features different people from around the world holding up a banner with their “dreams” written on it.

Among these are hug and kisses from parents, meeting newly born nephews, going home to be with family, and going back to school, to name a few.
