American rock band Journey’s current lead vocalist Arnel Pineda has recently collaborated with Japanese rock band One Ok Rock’s Taka.
According to the former, the partnership was meant to “honor” the legacy of Journey’s “Escape” album released in 1981, and to give tribute to lead guitarist Neal Schon, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, drummer Steve Smith, bassist Ross Valory, and former lead vocalist Steve Perry.

“Me and my one of a kind & extra exceptional buddy rocker of the amazing band #OneOkRock #Taka decided to jam this song #OpenArms,” Arnel wrote on Instagram along with a video of them rendering the said track. “Hope you’ll enjoy it folks…and thank you in advance if you ever find yourselves listening and watching it for awhile…”
Taka also shared the news on his own Instagram account, while expressing his gratefulness to work with Arnel.
“Thank you Arnel for inviting me to do this cover with you, it was an awesome experience,” he said.
