There is no denying the perception that music is truly a universal language, something that is perpetual and immortal. But aside from that, it can also be used to honor our lives and give tribute to those we love.

And yes, even departed loved ones and their memories.

That explains why Forest Lake, one of the largest and leading memorial care brands in the Philippines, decided to use music to give everyone a chance to pay tribute and honor the memories of their loved ones and celebrate the lives they lived during their time here on earth with families and friends. Forest Lake made listening to music as the perfect opportunity to enable everyone to remember their departed family members, and allow their memories to be treasured, immortalized and celebrated by the living.

Last November 1, Forest Lake organized a free “virtual” musical tribute to honor departed ones with “Music and Memories: A Celebration of Life through Music.” The extraordinary yet solemn musical event featured some of the best and most talented musical icons of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), who sang their most memorable tunes that made them such endearing—and enduring—artists.

The likes of Cooky Chua, who formed the band Color it Red in 1989, Wency Cornejo, who led the alternative rock band After Image in the late 1980s until the 1990s, Ice Seguerra, Bugoy Drilon, and music artists and legends extraordinaire Marco Sison and Ms. Kuh Ledesma, serenaded the audience that may have made them teary-eyed while watching the virtual concert.

The performances of the guest OPM artists truly tugged at the heart of concert viewers because they dedicated their songs not just to the viewers’ loved ones, but also their own. The lyrics of their songs were memorable enough, as if almost speaking to the viewers, invoking happy memories, and for a short while, made viewers reminisce quietly about lost family members or friends in the comfort of their homes.

Their music was truly a perfect tribute to honor the lives of loved one’s lost, to let them know that they are still remembered, revered, and loved, even if they are already in the afterlife, in God’s holy presence in His heavenly paradise.

Father Jesus Malit

Prior to the concert, a solemn celebration of the Holy Mass was conducted, officiated by Father Jesus Malit

Prior to the concert, a solemn celebration of the Holy Mass was officiated by Father Jesus Malit, providing the chance to pray for relatives and friends who have departed, offering comfort during these times when a physical visit to loved ones’ resting place is not possible. This was followed by testimonials from lot owners, who proudly expressed their gratitude for being part of the Forest Lake family of satisfied lot owners.

Forest Lake officials also offered prayers for their communities and those who are watching, to assure them of the company’s sympathies and being one with them in remembering their loved ones.

However, the event was not just somber but cheerful as well, especially for existing Forest Lake low owners, who got the chance to win a Forest Lake Memorial Park lot during the raffle, while those who watched via Facebook Live on Forest Lake’s Facebook page won cash prizes.
