Neil Young may keep on rockin’ in the free world but not on Spotify.

The site acquiesced to his appeal to have his songs taken off the platform as part of his protest against COVID-19 misinformation as rooted on Spotify also being the outlet for popular podcast personality, Joe Rogan.

Early this week, Young wrote, “they can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” referring to his music being on the same platform as the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Spotify began removing Neil Young’s catalog Wednesday evening, Rolling Stone reported.

Checking Spotify, most of the songs from the classic rocker’s lengthy catalog are now accessible though a few tracks remain. But those could soon well be inaccessible in the next few days.

Neil Young wrote a new letter admonishing Spotify as “a very damaging force via its public misinformation and lies about Covid.” The rock legend then thanked his longtime label Warner Music for standing by his decision.

Young did note that “a majority of his streaming revenue comes from Spotify.”
