Nora Aunor

Award-winning actress Nora Aunor dedicated her latest recognition to her family, friends, and fans who supported her from the beginning.

“Sa aking mga magulang, sa Diyos, mga kapatid, aking mga anak at matatalik na kaibigan, niyayakap ko po kayong lahat at laging ko po kayong iisipin habang buhay, kayo po ang himalang pinapasalamat ko sa diyos,” said Aunor, during the Parangal Sa Mga Pambansang Alagad Ng Sining help at the Tanghalang Nicanor Aberlardo last June 29.

When she emerged on stage, Aunor received a standing ovation and cheer from all her fans and fellow awardees. She dedicated her speech to her loyal Noranians, film directors, and producers.

Various groups endorsed Aunor as a national artist in the past years, but she failed to make the cut. But this year, the 69-year-old star was finally recognized.

“Gusto ko pong isipin, na sa pagkilalang ito na ikinagawad sa akin, kasama ko rin po kayong pinapangaralan lalo na ang mga mahal kong, Noranians, ang mga kapwa artista, at mga batikan at baguhang direktor, at mga producers na patuloy pa ring isinusulong ang paglikha ng makabuluhang pelikulang filipino,” Aunor said in her speech.

Aunor did not attend the ceremonies in Malacanang for health reasons. But prior to the CCP event, Aunor met President Duterte to thank him for the award.
